How Trauma can Shape You: Personal, Intergenerational & Secondary Traumatic Stress

Understanding the impact of chronic stress and trauma on development
is crucial in beginning to understand the “why” behind the behavior. It is
important to understand how your own trauma and experiences can
affect how you handle stressful situations and respond to individuals.
Seeing through a trauma lens will increase your ability to respond
effectively to those in crisis. Awareness of secondary traumatic stress,
burn-out and compassion fatigue will strengthen your ability to increase
your own self-care needs
